idlands Mentoring Partnership (MMP) was created in August 1999 as a Nebraska 501(c)3 non-profit to improve the number and quality of mentoring programs available to local youth. MMP is a public/private organization that receives funding support from local government and private foundations. The Midlands Mentoring Partnership is made up of Partner Member organizations, Candidacy Member organizations, and Friends of MMP.

Our Team

Deborah Neary

Executive Director

Deborah Neary serves as the Executive Director for the Midlands Mentoring Partnership, and leads the efforts of this newly-formed collective impact organization.

She and her team work in close partnership with the City of Omaha, United Way, and dozens of local mentoring agencies, with the primary goal to support and increase quality mentoring activities in Douglas and Sarpy Counties.  Neary holds a master’s degree in Public Administration and History and has 20+ years of non-profit leadership experience in the arts, healthcare and in the social services.   Deborah is a group mentor with Partnership 4 Kids and a one-on-one mentor with Girls Inc.   She and her husband, Joseph, have cared for 8 foster children and are both passionate advocates for youth living in poverty and for foster care issues. Whitney Mastin

Director of Operations

Whitney Mastin serves as the Director of Operations.

In her position, Whitney is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the implementation of quality standards in mentoring programs. Whitney received her master’s degree in Public Administration & Nonprofit Management from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.  She has completed numerous trainings including the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring and the Summer Institute on Youth Mentoring at Portland State University, and has attended several national mentoring conferences. Whitney currently serves as a youth mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands, and is a member of the Omaha Women’s Fund Circles. You can reach Whitney via email at: wmastin@mmpomaha.org

Teresa Riesberg

Operations and Events Coordinator

In her position, Teresa is focused on increasing awareness of the need for mentors in our community and coordinating the work of collaborative partners to increase mentor recruitment efforts. She also supports all organizational operations, events, and campaigns.

Teresa Riesberg serves as the Operations and Events Coordinator. In her position, Teresa is focused on increasing awareness of the need for mentors in our community and coordinating the work of collaborative partners to increase mentor recruitment efforts. She also supports all organizational operations, events, and campaigns. Prior to this role, Teresa spent several years working in the marketing field for both for-profit and non-profit entities. She has a dual degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and Kinesiology and Health from Iowa State University. Teresa currently serves as a youth mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands and is an active member of the Junior League of Omaha. Melissa Beagley

Mentoring Services Coordinator

In her role, Melissa provides on the ground support for the implementation of Youth Initiated Mentoring across multiple program sites.

Melissa Beagley currently serves as the Youth Initiated Mentoring Coordinator for the Midlands Mentoring Partnership. In her role, Melissa provides on the ground support for the implementation of Youth Initiated Mentoring across multiple program sites.  Prior to this role, Melissa worked in operations for various for-profit businesses.  Melissa received her master’s degree in Communication with a focus on interracial and intercultural communication from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  She has volunteered for several years with local non-profits and is currently a youth mentor for Girls Inc. and on the Mentor Committee for the ACE Mentor Program of Greater Omaha.  Melissa serves as a member of a local task force committed to creating a comprehensive, coordinated, and community-wide approach to juvenile services that eliminates the need for youth involvement with our justice system.
